The United States has paused immigration from many “third-world” countries after a recent attack on National Guard personnel. Still, citizens of Pakistan remain spared from the worst of the new restrictions.
Under the directive from Donald Trump, green-card holders from 19 “countries of concern” will undergo a full security audit — yet Pakistan is not listed among them, meaning Pakistanis are not subject to mass green-card reviews or immediate bans.
Still, the move signals tougher immigration scrutiny overall. While hopeful immigrants from Pakistan get a temporary reprieve, many remain anxious about future policy shifts. The pause raises concern among overseas aspirants relying on US visas and highlights growing unpredictability in global migration trends.
