President Zardari, UAE Vice President Discuss Expanding Economic and Trade Cooperation

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari met with United Arab Emirates Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai on Wednesday, with both leaders exploring ways to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties between the two countries, officials said. The meeting at Zabeel Palace focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including infrastructure development, logistics, food security, technology, and digital financial services, as well as benefiting from Dubai’s experience as a global hub for tourism, finance, and innovation.

President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms—including investment facilitation and privatization efforts—and outlined opportunities for enhanced UAE investment in areas such as ports, logistics, and emerging technologies. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the brotherly ties between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi, emphasizing the positive trajectory of bilateral co-operation and the significant contribution of the Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE to strengthening people-to-people links.
