The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will launch a cutting-edge Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS) on July 31, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre (XSLC).
This landmark mission aims to strengthen Pakistan’s space program, enhancing Earth observation capabilities for critical national applications, according to a statement by SUPARCO.
Equipped with advanced imaging systems, the satellite will monitor crop health, support precision agriculture, and aid urban planning.
It will also provide early warnings for natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and landslides, while tracking glacier melt and deforestation.
The satellite’s data will support infrastructure projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and bolster resource management.
Joining Pakistan’s satellite fleet, which includes PRSS-1 (2018) and EO-1 (January 2025), this launch aligns with SUPARCO’s Vision 2047 and the National Space Policy, reinforcing Pakistan’s growing role as a spacefaring nation.
The mission builds on decades of collaboration with China, following successful launches like PakSat-1R (2011) and PakSat-MM1 (2024).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed the launch as a step toward a “Digital Pakistan,” emphasizing its role in sustainable development.
