Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has announced a financial assistance package of Rs 1 crore for the family of martyred firefighter Furqan, honoring his bravery and sacrifice during a recent rescue operation. Mayor Wahab visited the bereaved household, offered condolences, and committed that Furqan’s widow will receive all pension benefits and regular financial support, while the city administration will also ensure her employment and cover their child’s education expenses.

The mayor also announced that the Furqan Fire Station in Nazimabad will be renamed in his memory to commemorate his dedication and selfless service to the city.
His remarks come as concerns grow over serious fire safety lapses across Karachi—highlighted by recent incidents where a lack of safety measures has led to tragic outcomes.
City officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening fire safety audits and training to prevent future tragedies and honor the legacy of fallen heroes like Furqan.
