Karachi Commissioner Calls Investigative Committee Meeting on Gul Plaza Fire Tragedy

Karachi’s top administrator has called a meeting of the investigative committee probing the deadly fire at Gul Plaza, one of the city’s worst recent tragedies, set to take place tomorrow to review evidence and assess initial findings. The decision came as rescue and relief operations continued at the site, where the official death toll has climbed to 26, and dozens more remain missing. Authorities have also launched DNA and missing person tracking efforts to help identify victims.

The Commissioner said that the inquiry will examine all available data and that any proven criminal negligence or misconduct will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He added that highly flammable materials found in the building contributed to the fire’s intensity.

Meanwhile, the city continues clearing debris after 33 hours of firefighting, with families still searching for loved ones and officials urging calm as operations press on.
