Indian Minister Says Australian Players “Will Learn Lesson” After Inappropriate Touching at Women’s World Cup

Bollywood-cricket watchdogs have erupted after a senior Indian minister claimed that two Australian women cricketers who were inappropriately touched at the Women’s World Cup 2025 must “learn a lesson” and remain extra cautious in the future.

The incident reportedly occurred in Indore when the players left their hotel to grab a coffee following Australia’s victory over England. A motorcyclist allegedly approached and touched the players without consent, and police have arrested the 30-year-old suspect, charging him under assault and stalking laws.

The minister argued that while a security lapse occurred, the players also had a duty to inform local authorities before stepping out. “Players are very popular, so they should be careful… they didn’t tell anyone,” he stated.

In response, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Cricket Australia both condemned the episode, lauded police action, and committed to reviewing security protocols to prevent such breaches ahead of future matches.
