Lahore: Pakistan cricket team’s star batsman Babar Azam has achieved another milestone by breaking former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s world record for the most runs in T20 Internationals.
Babar reached this historic feat during the second T20 match against South Africa in Lahore.
Rohit Sharma had scored 4,231 runs in 159 T20I matches, while Babar needed just nine runs to surpass the Indian captain’s record.
Babar crossed the milestone early in his innings to become the highest run-scorer in T20 International cricket history.
It is worth noting that Babar had been out of the T20 side since the home series against South Africa in December last year. After Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the Asia Cup 2025, Babar Azam was recalled to the national squad for the home T20 series — and he has now made a triumphant return by rewriting cricket history.
