The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has launched a robust campaign against illegal constructions across Karachi, targeting builders and property owners who violate approved building plans.
On July 30, 2025, the newly appointed Director General (DG) of SBCA, Shahmir Khan Bhutto, issued strict directives to all regional directors to file First Information Reports (FIRs) against builders and owners involved in unauthorized constructions.
Bhutto has instructed officials to submit a comprehensive report on actions taken within seven days, emphasizing zero tolerance for deviations from approved construction plans.
The SBCA has also directed its regional directors to coordinate closely with local police to gather evidence and register FIRs promptly.
The directive comes in response to widespread criticism of the SBCA for alleged collusion with the “builder mafia,” which has led to unchecked illegal constructions across Karachi.
