Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has expressed solidarity with students protesting in New Delhi over the ongoing NEET examination controversy, urging the government to introduce meaningful reforms to the country’s education system.

In a post shared on Instagram, Mirza said students are the future of the nation and expressed concern for those who spent years preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), only to face uncertainty following allegations of exam irregularities and paper leaks.

She called on the government to listen to students’ concerns, address their grievances, and implement reforms that would restore confidence in the education system. Mirza also stressed that young people deserve a transparent and fair examination process that rewards merit and hard work.

The former Grand Slam champion further appealed for peace, saying there is no place for violence in society. She urged all stakeholders to work together to find a peaceful solution that protects the future of millions of students.

The protests have continued across India since allegations of irregularities in the NEET examination surfaced, with demonstrators demanding comprehensive education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Protesters argue that the controversy has caused severe mental stress for students, while some reports have linked the crisis to multiple student suicides, intensifying public pressure on the government.

Mirza’s statement adds another prominent voice to the growing calls for accountability and reforms in India’s education system.
