Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan played a “very sincere role” in ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, highlighting Islamabad’s growing diplomatic influence in regional peace negotiations. Speaking during his visit to Beijing, the premier said Pakistan remains committed to promoting dialogue and stability in the Middle East.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that developments in the negotiations are “moving in the right direction” and stressed that Pakistan’s efforts were aimed solely at achieving peace and preventing further escalation in the region. Chinese President Xi Jinping also acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution toward restoring peace and stability, praising Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement during talks with the Pakistani delegation in Beijing.
Pakistan has emerged as an active mediator in recent US-Iran discussions, with Islamabad previously hosting high-level negotiations between officials from both countries earlier this year. Although earlier talks did not produce a final agreement, diplomatic channels remained open with Pakistan continuing to facilitate communication between Washington and Tehran.
The prime minister also credited Pakistan’s civil and military leadership for improving the country’s international image and strengthening trust among global powers. Analysts say Pakistan’s mediation role has increased its diplomatic relevance amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region and concerns over global energy security.
