Ben Cohen, co-founder of ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s, has called on Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan to end her association with Unilever and its ice cream brand Magnum, citing the company’s position on Palestine.

Cohen appealed in a social media post, saying Kapoor has been associated with Unilever and Magnum’s marketing activities in India for more than a decade. He also referred to her public statements condemning violence against Palestinian children.
The Ben & Jerry’s co-founder accused Unilever and Magnum of attempting to silence criticism of Israel, including statements made by his own brand. Cohen also alleged that Magnum had sought to remove members of Ben & Jerry’s independent board responsible for overseeing the company’s social mission.
He urged Kapoor to use her influence to encourage Unilever and Magnum to give Ben & Jerry’s greater freedom to pursue its social and political positions.
The appeal comes amid a long-running dispute over Ben & Jerry’s activism on Palestinian issues. The company has previously clashed with its parent and later corporate owners over its approach to Israel and Palestine. A US federal judge also recently narrowed a lawsuit brought by Ben & Jerry’s against Unilever over allegations that the company suppressed the ice cream brand’s social activism.
Cohen remains one of the most outspoken figures associated with Ben & Jerry’s, frequently using his platform to advocate for Palestinian rights and other social causes.
