On October 14, 2025, major telecom providers like PTCL, Jazz, Zong, Ufone, and Telenor prepare to halt services across the country. This planned outage stems from essential repairs on a key submarine cable, and it could last up to 18 hours starting at 11:00 AM local time (PST) tomorrow.
Users already report slower speeds and spotty connections, especially in urban hubs like Islamabad and Karachi. However, authorities assure minimal impact through backup routes, yet frustration builds among netizens who rely on the web for work, education, and daily chats.
PTCL announced the maintenance yesterday, targeting a faulty undersea repeater. This cable links Pakistan straight to European and Middle Eastern hubs, handling everything from Zoom calls to online banking.
Consequently, the maintenance could spike latency by 50-70%, per early tests shared on tech forums. Moreover, Nayatel echoed the warning, noting “nationwide degradation” might hit broadband and mobile alike until late evening.
If all goes smoothly, services rebound by midnight, but snags could push recovery to the next day.
