Pakistan Announces 48-Hour Ceasefire at Afghan Taliban’s Request

Islamabad: Pakistan has agreed to observe a 48-hour ceasefire following a request from the Afghan Taliban regime.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the temporary ceasefire began at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and will remain in effect for the next 48 hours. The ministry said the request was made by the Afghan Taliban authorities.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry added that efforts are underway to seek a peaceful and constructive solution through bilateral dialogue.

Sources revealed that Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, is expected to hold talks with the Afghan Foreign Minister or other senior officials from Kabul to discuss the situation.
