Pakistan gears up to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with a nationwide public holiday on September 6, 2025. The federal government, through a notification from the Cabinet Division, confirmed that all government offices, schools, and most private businesses will close to honor the 12th of Rabi ul Awal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, announced September 6 as the date after failing to sight the Rabi ul Awal moon on August 24, 2025, due to cloudy weather across the country. Consequently, the month began on August 25, aligning the 12th of Rabi ul Awal with September 6.
Remarkably, September 6 also marks Pakistan’s Defence Day, commemorating the sacrifices of the armed forces during the 1965 war with India. The convergence of these events amplifies the day’s importance. Ceremonies honoring soldiers’ bravery, alongside religious gatherings, will take place nationwide.
