GAZA: The Israeli army launched multiple airstrikes across southern Gaza, violating the recently established Gaza ceasefire and killing at least 21 Palestinians, according to local authorities.
In a statement, the Israeli military accused Hamas of breaching the ceasefire agreement, claiming that the strikes were a “response” to alleged violations. Israeli forces said they carried out “large-scale airstrikes” targeting dozens of locations, including a Hamas tunnel system, and fired more than 120 rockets into the area.
The ceasefire, brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, took effect on October 10, ending a devastating two-year war between Israel and Hamas. However, the latest attacks have cast serious doubt on the future of that fragile truce.
Eyewitnesses and journalists on the ground reported that one airstrike completely destroyed a home in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. While no immediate details about casualties were available at that site, another strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families in the Asada area northwest of Khan Younis, injuring several civilians.
Israeli artillery also shelled the Abbasan and Al-Zinah neighborhoods east of Khan Younis, further escalating tensions.
Gaza health officials confirmed that at least 21 people have been martyred and dozens injured in the latest wave of Israeli attacks. Local residents fear that the renewed violence could unravel the hard-fought peace agreement and plunge the region back into chaos.
