IRGC Disables Two Vessels in Strait of Hormuz as US Naval Blockade Escalates

Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz intensified after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly disabled two commercial vessels attempting to navigate the strategic waterway amid an expanding United States naval blockade on Iranian ports. The latest incident marks another significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.

According to reports, the two vessels were intercepted and rendered inoperable by IRGC naval forces after allegedly violating restrictions imposed by Iran in the Strait. The incident comes as the United States begins enforcing a maritime blockade targeting Iranian ports and coastal areas, warning that unauthorized vessels entering or leaving Iranian territory could face interception or capture. However, US officials have maintained that commercial traffic passing through the Strait to non-Iranian destinations remains unaffected.

The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of the world’s oil shipments passes, has become the focal point of rising geopolitical tensions. Analysts warn that continued military confrontations in the region could disrupt global energy supplies, drive oil prices higher, and increase volatility in international financial markets.

The latest maritime confrontation follows days of military exchanges and diplomatic deadlock between the United States and Iran, raising fears of further escalation. Governments and shipping companies are closely monitoring developments, as any prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could have far-reaching consequences for global trade and energy security.
