Senior journalist Hamid Mir has hinted that the government may formally ban the Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) and file a treason case against its founder, former prime minister Imran Khan.

His remarks came shortly after comments by federal officials accusing PTI of spreading “anti‑state” narratives and undermining Pakistan’s stability.
The suggestion follows a resolution passed by the provincial assembly seeking PTI’s ban. Many see this as part of a broader crackdown on the party amid heightened political tensions. A treason charge—if filed—would escalate matters significantly, especially given Pakistan’s history with political and legal conflicts.
