ANF Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Trafficking Near Educational Institutions and Across Pakistan: 14 Arrested, Millions Worth of Narcotics Seized

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a robust crackdown on drug smuggling activities targeting educational institutions and various cities across Pakistan. In a series of eight successful operations, the ANF apprehended 14 individuals, including one woman, and recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics valued at over PKR 56.5 million (approximately 245.15 kilograms).

In Rawalpindi, near a university, ANF personnel intercepted a vehicle and recovered 1.100 kilograms of hashish, leading to the arrest of two suspects. Another operation in Gudu Chowk, Hyderabad, near a petrol pump, resulted in the seizure of 1 kilogram of opium and 200 grams of methamphetamine (“ice”) from an apprehended individual. The arrested suspects confessed to their involvement in supplying drugs to students in educational institutions.

At Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, vigilant ANF officials intercepted the luggage of three passengers en route to Dubai and Riyadh. Concealed within cosmetic items, they discovered 450 grams of hashish. Near the Islamabad Toll Plaza, a vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of a significant haul: 139.200 kilograms of opium and 45.600 kilograms of hashish. Two individuals were arrested in connection with this seizure.

In Zila Bhawani, Hub, near a petrol pump, ANF operatives intercepted a passenger bus and recovered 7 kilograms of crystal heroin. Two individuals, including a woman, were taken into custody. Two separate operations near Blaily on Airport Road, Quetta, resulted in the recovery of 30 kilograms and 20 kilograms of opium respectively, with one suspect arrested in each instance. Finally, near Darya Khan Bridge on Bhakkar Road in Dera Ismail Khan, 600 grams of methamphetamine (“ice”) were seized from the possession of two individuals. Cases have been registered against all the arrested individuals under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and investigations into the drug trafficking networks are currently underway.
