Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan hopes to host the next round of peace talks between the United States and Iran “very soon,” highlighting Islamabad’s growing diplomatic role in efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East. The statement came as regional leaders continued discussions aimed at securing a long-term peace agreement between Washington and Tehran.

In a post shared on X, Shehbaz praised US President Donald Trump for his “extraordinary efforts to pursue peace” and revealed that a high-level phone call was recently held with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Pakistan to discuss regional stability and ongoing negotiations.
The prime minister also acknowledged the role of Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who has reportedly been engaged in diplomatic efforts with the Iranian leadership to help move the talks forward. According to international reports, Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator in attempts to extend the current ceasefire and reopen negotiations on broader regional issues.
Pakistan previously hosted direct US-Iran discussions in Islamabad earlier this year, although those talks ended without a final agreement. Officials now hope a fresh round of negotiations could bring progress toward a broader peace settlement in the region.
