Massive floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains across Southeast Asia have left a devastating trail. In Thailand and Indonesia, officials say the death toll has soared past 400 as rescue and clean-up operations begin.

In Indonesia’s Sumatra region, floodwaters and landslides destroyed homes and infrastructure, forcing evacuations and leaving many areas inaccessible to relief teams. Meanwhile, in southern Thailand, provinces including Songkhla were hardest hit—floodwaters reached up to three meters, submerging towns, damaging hospitals, and overwhelming morgues.
Authorities in both countries have launched major recovery efforts, deploying search-and-rescue teams, airlifting stranded people, and offering compensation for flood-affected families. As local communities begin cleaning up mud-filled homes and ruined businesses, the scale of destruction underscores the growing danger of extreme weather—and the urgent need for climate resilience.
