Trump Backs Down on Iran Strike and Greenland Takeover After NATO Pressure

U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly been forced to back down from plans to launch a military strike on Iran and a controversial proposal to seize Greenland, sources say, amid mounting pressure from NATO allies and diplomatic counterparts. According to reports, Trump told world leaders he would not use force against Greenland and instead agreed on an initial framework with NATO on the territory’s future, with tariffs set to be rescinded starting Feb. 1.

Trump’s earlier comments had suggested NATO allies faced a stark choice—either support his stance on Greenland or face unspecified consequences—but the firm international pushback appears to have shifted his position following meetings in Davos.

The developments also come as Trump hinted that further action against Iran might be paused, expressing hope that a broader peace initiative could include Russian President Vladimir Putin in a new “Board of Peace,” though Moscow says it is still reviewing the offer.
