Trump Announces August 15 Talks with Putin in Alaska

US President Donald Trump has confirmed he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15, 2025, in Alaska to negotiate a potential end to the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump announced the summit on Truth Social, stating, “The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska. Further details to follow.”

The announcement follows weeks of diplomatic efforts, with Trump hinting at the meeting during a White House press conference on August 8, 2025.

He emphasized the need for a peace deal, suggesting that any agreement might involve “some swapping of territories to the betterment of both.”

Reports indicate that Putin has signaled Russia’s willingness to end the conflict in exchange for control over eastern Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.
