Sindh Lawmakers Eyes Punjab’s Rs. 400,000 Paychecks

On August 6, 2025, sources revealed that the Sindh Assembly is actively considering a proposal to align the salaries and privileges of its lawmakers with those of the Punjab Assembly, marking a significant step toward addressing long-standing demands for equitable compensation.

The initiative, discussed in a recent meeting between Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, aims to bridge the gap in lawmakers’ pay, with Sindh Assembly members currently earning Rs. 143,000 per month.

The Sindh provincial law department has finalized a draft amendment bill to implement the proposed salary and privilege adjustments.

Insiders confirm that the legislation is slated for discussion at the Sindh Cabinet meeting scheduled for August 7, 2025.

If approved, the bill will likely be tabled during the ongoing Sindh Assembly session, reflecting a unified push from both treasury and opposition lawmakers who have repeatedly called for enhanced compensation.
