Sialkot, Pakistan, is grappling with severe urban flooding following nonstop rainfall since the night of August 25, 2025. The deluge has overwhelmed the city’s infrastructure, leaving major areas without electricity, gas, or water supply. Local reports describe streets submerged, homes inundated, and residents struggling to cope with the crisis. The Chenab River, already swollen from heavy monsoon rains, faces a high flood risk tonight, while local streams are overflowing, exacerbating the situation.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have issued warnings of continued heavy rainfall across Punjab, including Sialkot, from August 23 to 30, 2025. The NDMA forecasts urban flooding in low-lying areas and potential landslides in hilly regions, with northeastern Punjab districts like Sialkot among the hardest hit.
The flooding has disrupted daily life, damaging roads, crops, and infrastructure. Earlier this month, on August 13, Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali and MPA Rana Fayyaz visited flood-affected villages like Ado Fattah and Karar Baryar, where rising water levels in Nullah Dek caused significant damage. Authorities are now implementing emergency measures, including clearing drainage systems and rerouting traffic to maintain connectivity.
Residents of Sialkot are urged to stay indoors, avoid flooded areas, and follow local alerts. Rescue 1122 and local authorities are on high alert, coordinating relief efforts to prevent loss of life. The situation remains critical, and the people of Sialkot need urgent support and prayers during this challenging time.
