Kagiso Rabada Breaks 119-Year-Old South African Test Record

History Made: Rabada Breaks Century-Old Record Batting at No. 11

Rawalpindi: South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada made history by breaking a 119-year-old record with a sensational batting performance against Pakistan in the second Test at the Pindi Stadium.

In response to Pakistan’s first innings total of 333 runs, Rabada came to bat at number 11 and stunned the crowd with an aggressive knock of 71 runs off just 61 balls. His innings included 4 boundaries and 4 towering sixes.

Rabada, along with Senuran Muthusamy, added a crucial 98-run partnership for the tenth wicket — a stand that not only frustrated Pakistan’s bowling attack but also helped South Africa gain a significant first-innings lead.

South Africa eventually posted 404 runs in their first innings, taking a 71-run lead over Pakistan.

With this remarkable performance, Rabada broke the 119-year-old record for the highest individual score by a South African batsman batting at number 11 in Test cricket. The previous record was held by Bert Woolgar, who scored an unbeaten 62 against England in Cape Town in 1906.

Globally, the record for the highest score by a number 11 batsman in Test cricket remains with Australia’s Ashton Agar, who made 98 runs against England during the 2013 Ashes series.
