Proposal to allow limited Basant celebrations in Lahore

There has been a suggestion to permit Basant festivities in Lahore on a restricted basis. The Basant celebration is only supposed to be observed on Saturday and Sunday, according to sources.

The Deputy Commissioner of Lahore submitted recommendations related to Basant to the government, according to which it is proposed to allow Basant to be celebrated on a limited basis in inner-city areas.

The inner city areas include the Shahi Qila, Mochi Gate, Bhati Gate, and Rang Mahal. A 2-day Basant Festival has also been proposed within the city.

A safety plan for Basant has been created by the administration and presented to the government. It has been suggested that motorbikes be prohibited from entering Basant regions and that riders must wear neck covers and safety helmets.

It has been suggested that safety nets and wire protection systems will be installed on the main roads of Lahore, the use of sharp metal wires, nylon, and chemical ropes will be completely banned, and only ropes made of cotton or starch will be allowed.

It will be mandatory to put barcodes on strings and kites, strict action will be taken against unregistered kite sellers, and a crackdown will be carried out against those who make and sell unsafe strings.
