Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), emphasising its vital role in promoting the safe and responsible use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

 

During a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, the premier highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to nuclear safety, security, and non-proliferation. He noted that nuclear technology has played a key role in energy generation, cancer treatment, agriculture, and industrial development in the country.

 

Sharif appreciated the IAEA’s continued cooperation with Pakistan and stressed the importance of expanding collaboration in healthcare, food security, and climate-resilient agriculture. He also reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen its partnership with the global nuclear watchdog.

The IAEA chief acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive engagement and its contributions toward the peaceful use of nuclear science, underscoring the importance of continued international cooperation.
