Istanbul: The talks between the delegations of Pakistan and Afghanistan have officially begun in Istanbul, Turkey, aimed at easing recent border tensions and reviewing previously agreed security commitments.
According to diplomatic sources, the negotiations are taking place at a local hotel in Istanbul under the facilitation of Turkish authorities. A two-member delegation from Pakistan is participating in the dialogue.
The Afghan side is being represented by key figures including Sohail Shaheen, acting head of the Afghan Embassy, along with senior Taliban representatives Anas Haqqani and Noor Ahmad Noor. Afghan Ministry of Defense Deputy Operations Chief Noor-ur-Rehman Nusrat and Afghan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abdul Qahar Balkhi are also part of the delegation.
Sources say that the discussions will focus on restoring border coordination, addressing cross-border militant activity, and implementing commitments made in earlier talks.
It should be noted that the first round of Pakistan-Afghanistan talks, mediated by Qatar and Turkey, was held in Doha earlier this year.
