The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) issued a stern three-day ultimatum to several major government institutions, threatening to disconnect water supplies unless overdue payments exceeding Rs. 10 billion are cleared.
The warning targets high-profile defaulters, including the Railway Station, Karachi University, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and the State Bank, signaling a bold move to enforce financial accountability.
The KMC, Pakistan’s largest municipal body, tops the list with an outstanding debt of approximately Rs. 1 billion, according to KWSC sources.
Other institutions facing the axe include Korangi Hospital, the Printing Corporation, Hockey Club, and numerous government colleges and schools.
The KWSC emphasized that no entity, regardless of its stature, will be spared if dues remain unpaid by August 10, 2025.
