Karachi’s water supply has been restored following the successful completion of a major upgrade project on the Hub Canal, a critical source of water for the city. The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) announced that work at Zero Point has been finalised, allowing normal supply to resume through the Hub Pumping Station.

As part of the upgrade, an intake chamber was constructed to link upstream and downstream canal flows, effectively integrating both systems with the Hub Dam. This development is expected to significantly stabilise the city’s water transmission network and reduce frequent disruptions that previously affected supply.

Officials stated that the improvement will particularly benefit residents of District West and Keamari, areas that have historically faced water shortages. The enhanced infrastructure is also expected to ensure a more reliable and consistent flow of water across these regions.

The KWSC reiterated its commitment to addressing Karachi’s long-standing water challenges through infrastructure upgrades and continued reforms. Authorities indicated that they will carry out similar development initiatives in the future to further improve water availability in the city.

The completion of the Hub Canal upgrade marks an important step toward strengthening Karachi’s water supply system, offering relief to residents who have long struggled with inconsistent access to water.
