ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan issued a firm directive today, October 9, 2025, ordering all party lawmakers to immediately resign from standing committees in the Punjab Assembly. Consequently, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan announced the move after meeting Khan at Adiala Jail, confirming that the party currently holds 14 such committees For example, Opposition Leader Moeen Riaz Qureshi swiftly instructed members to submit their resignations from chairmanships, aligning with Khan’s broader push for disengagement.
Nevertheless, this step escalates PTI’s ongoing boycott tactics. Last month, party members vacated committees in the National Assembly and Senate following similar orders. In addition, PTI plans to skip upcoming by-elections, protesting what Khan calls rigged polls and political persecution. During the meeting, Gohar noted Khan’s dissatisfaction with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur over security lapses, hinting at potential leadership shifts.
In addition, the timing ties into Khan’s legal battles. Gohar updated that the Toshakhana-II trial concluded, with final arguments set for October 13 and a verdict soon after. Khan dismissed all cases as politically motivated, vowing stronger resistance. Thus, these resignations signal PTI’s deepening rift with institutions, aiming to spotlight alleged injustices.
