Beijing, July 26, 2025 – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, concluded a high-profile visit to China, reinforcing the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two nations.
Over several days, COAS Munir engaged in high-level meetings with Chinese political and military leaders in Beijing, focusing on regional security, defense cooperation, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The visit, marked by a ceremonial guard of honor at the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Headquarters, brings light to the enduring alliance between Pakistan and China, often described as “ironclad brothers.”
Munir met with key figures, including Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and senior military officials like General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army, and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army.
The discourse centered on the evolving geopolitical landscape, counterterrorism strategies, and CPEC’s role in regional connectivity.
The operational interoperability to counter hybrid and transnational threats, aiming to bolster joint training, defense modernization, and institutional linkages, was a key emphasis on both sides.
Chinese leaders praised the Pakistan Armed Forces as a “cornerstone of resilience” and a vital contributor to South Asian peace. Wang Yi highlighted Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and urged continued protection for Chinese personnel and projects.
Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding Chinese interests, stating that cooperation with China enjoys broad societal support in Pakistan. He thanked China for its unwavering economic and social development support, pledging to deepen military-to-military ties across all domains.
