Unidentified militants blew up a government primary school and a basic health unit (BHU) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, intensifying concerns over rising militancy and attacks on public infrastructure in the region. According to police officials, the explosions occurred late at night in the remote Jandola area near the border with South Waziristan.

Authorities said explosives were planted inside the buildings, causing severe structural damage and destroying several classrooms and medical facilities. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as both buildings were closed at the time of the attack. Security forces and bomb disposal teams reached the site shortly after the blasts and launched an investigation into the incident.
Officials believe the attack was intended to spread fear and disrupt essential public services in the area. The destruction of schools and healthcare centres has long been used by militant groups in Pakistan’s northwestern regions to weaken state institutions and create instability.
The latest incident comes amid a noticeable rise in militant violence across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where security forces have been conducting operations against armed groups. Residents and political leaders have condemned the attack and demanded stronger security measures to protect educational and healthcare facilities in vulnerable districts.
