Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has accused the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of failing to take effective action against militancy and alleged that it is facilitating the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Speaking at a press briefing, Tarar described the provincial government as the TTP’s “B-team” and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Afghanistan’s “C-team”. He also criticised KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi over what he described as the provincial government’s response to the deteriorating security situation.

Tarar claimed that 2,456 terror attacks had occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2026, with 472 police and security personnel killed and more than 1,500 people injured. He linked the security situation to what he called a “political-terror-crime nexus,” alleging that illegal trade and mining activities were being used to fund militants.

The minister further accused PTI of avoiding condemnation and action against militant groups and questioned the provincial government’s response to reported incidents along the Afghan border.

The PTI-led KP government has faced repeated criticism from the federal government over security and law-and-order issues, while PTI leaders have disputed the federal government’s characterisation of their policies and actions.
