Pakistan Women Out of ICC World Cup Semi-Final Race

Pakistan Women’s cricket team match abandoned due to rain in ICC World Cup 2025

Colombo: The ICC Women’s World Cup match between Pakistan and England was abandoned due to persistent rain, resulting in Pakistan’s elimination from the semi-final race.

The match, held in Colombo, saw Pakistan Women win the toss and elect to field first. Their bowlers dominated early on, dismantling England’s batting lineup and reducing them to 78 for 7.

Fatima Sana starred with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for just 27 runs, while Sadia Iqbal picked up 2 wickets. Diana Baig and Ramin Shamim took one wicket each, keeping England under constant pressure.

However, the match was interrupted by rain and eventually reduced to 31 overs per side. England managed to reach 133 for 9 in their allotted overs. Under the Duckworth-Lewis method, Pakistan was set a revised target of 113 runs.

In reply, Pakistan Women made a confident start, reaching 34 without loss in 6.4 overs, before rain returned to halt play once again. Despite waiting for conditions to improve, the match was eventually called off with no result declared.

As a result, both Pakistan and England received one point each. The outcome, however, ended Pakistan’s hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals and dashed their dream of registering a historic victory over the former world champions.

In the ongoing tournament, Pakistan Women have suffered defeats against Bangladesh, India, and Australia. With just one point from four matches, they currently sit at the bottom of the points table. The team still has three matches remaining in the event.
