A brief moment of panic was witnessed during Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Kerala when her helicopter sank on landing at the Pramadam Stadium helipad.
According to Indian media reports, the President had arrived on a four-day official visit to the state when the helicopter suddenly sank on one side as it touched down. Eyewitnesses said the aircraft tilted dangerously before stabilizing on the soft surface of the helipad.
Police and fire brigade personnel immediately rushed forward to secure the helicopter. With their assistance, the chopper was carefully pushed out of the sunken section of the helipad.
No injuries were reported, and President Murmu was safely escorted from the aircraft. Authorities have launched an internal inquiry to determine whether the helipad’s surface was weakened by recent rainfall or a construction flaw.
The incident briefly disrupted the President’s scheduled engagements in Kerala, but officials later confirmed that her visit would continue as planned.
