First Hajj Flight from Islamabad to Depart on April 19

Pakistan’s Hajj operations are set to gain momentum, with the first flight from Islamabad scheduled to depart on April 19, marking a key milestone in the country’s annual pilgrimage arrangements. The nationwide Hajj flight operation will begin a day earlier, on April 18, transporting thousands of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

A special ceremony will be held at Islamabad International Airport to see off the first batch of pilgrims, with senior officials, including the federal minister for religious affairs and the Saudi ambassador, expected to attend. The event will highlight the close cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in facilitating the pilgrimage.

This year, pilgrims departing from Islamabad will benefit from the “Route to Makkah” initiative, which enables completion of both Pakistani and Saudi immigration processes at the departure airport. This system is designed to streamline travel, allowing pilgrims to avoid long queues upon arrival in Saudi Arabia and proceed directly to their accommodation.

Around 29,900 pilgrims from the Islamabad region are expected to travel under this facility through over 100 flights. Authorities have advised pilgrims to arrive at the airport at least four hours before departure to complete necessary procedures.

The Hajj operation will continue until mid-May, ensuring smooth transportation and improved services for pilgrims across Pakistan.
