In a recent press conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan could use force against militants in Afghanistan—but emphasised that Islamabad doesn’t want to “storm a brother’s home.”

Dar noted Pakistan’s request to the Afghan leadership: to take action against the banned Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ensure Afghan soil is not used against Pakistan. He recalled Islamabad’s April visit to Kabul, where Pakistan fulfilled its commitments—including signing a railway agreement. Yet, he said, Kabul has not reciprocated on counterterrorism. Pakistan insists on a clear plan to curb insurgent activity near the border.
Dar urged peace and stability, stressing that Pakistan seeks diplomatic, not military, resolutions—but will act if national security is threatened.
