Turkey has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several top officials on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
According to a statement from the Istanbul prosecutor’s office, a total of 37 Israeli officials have been named, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.
The statement alleges that these officials have systematically committed genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The Turkish prosecutor’s office also cited the destruction of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza, which was built by Turkey and destroyed in an Israeli airstrike in March.
It is noteworthy that Turkey had also joined South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) last year, which accused Israel of genocide.
