The Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot has issued a critical order to close all public and private educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, from the 1st to the 5th of September 2025. This decision follows severe flooding and waterlogging caused by torrential rains and the rising high level of the Chenab River.

The order comes after the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab, Lahore, issued a warning on August 31, 2025. Moreover, the Flood Forecasting Division in Islamabad provided predictions of potential flooding, prompting this precautionary measure. Consequently, the Deputy Commissioner has directed all educational institutions in the Sialkot district to comply strictly with the closure directive.
