The government of Pakistan has announced a significant cut in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD), slashing it by Rs14 per litre for the current fortnight. In contrast, petrol prices remain unchanged, according to the latest notification from the Petroleum Division.

The reduction reflects movements in global oil markets and recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Diesel—widely used in transport, agriculture, and commercial sectors—has been made cheaper at Rs265.65 per litre from the previous rate, offering relief to transporters and businesses affected by high fuel costs.
Petrol, which strongly impacts everyday commuters and middle-income households, remains stable, helping drivers plan their budgets without sudden spikes in prices. Analysts say the diesel cut could ease inflationary pressures on essential goods and transport costs in the coming weeks.
