Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was accorded a guard of honour at Prime Minister House in Islamabad on Wednesday, October 21, during his three-day state visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the visiting president, with the national anthems of Pakistan and the Maldives played during the official ceremony. A contingent of Pakistan’s armed forces presented the guard of honour, which President Muizzu reviewed.
The visiting dignitary also planted a sapling at the Prime Minister House, symbolising friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, Muizzu is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on strengthening bilateral relations. Discussions are expected to cover trade, investment, education, tourism, health, agriculture, defence, maritime security and climate change.
A Pakistan-Maldives Business Forum is also being held to explore opportunities for business partnerships, trade, and investment. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed.
The visit marks the first by a Maldivian president to Pakistan in 11 years and coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, established in 1966.
