Lebanon has announced a partial ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in a bid to reduce escalating tensions, though fighting continues in parts of southern Lebanon despite the agreement. The truce, facilitated through international mediation efforts, includes Israel halting strikes on Beirut and Hezbollah suspending attacks on Israeli territory as an initial step toward broader de-escalation.

The ceasefire comes amid growing international concern over the widening regional conflict and its humanitarian consequences. Lebanese officials hope the arrangement will pave the way for a more comprehensive agreement, while diplomatic discussions with the United States and regional stakeholders continue.
However, the situation on the ground remains fragile. Israeli forces have continued military operations and airstrikes in southern Lebanon, while tensions along the border remain high. Reports indicate that artillery shelling and military activity have persisted despite commitments to limit hostilities.
Hezbollah has expressed support for a broader and permanent ceasefire but maintains that any lasting agreement must include the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory. Analysts warn that without a comprehensive settlement, the risk of renewed escalation remains significant.
