Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah closely monitored the flood-like situation caused by heavy rainfall in various parts of Hyderabad, directing immediate measures to mitigate public hardship. In coordination with the Mayor of Hyderabad, Shah reviewed drainage efforts and issued urgent instructions to expedite water removal from affected areas.
The heavy rains disrupted power supply due to tripped feeders of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), temporarily halting pumping stations and impeding drainage operations. Shah also directed Energy Minister Nasir Shah to coordinate with HESCO officials to restore electricity to the stations promptly. Emphasizing the need to make major roads accessible, he urged the district administration, municipal bodies, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, traffic police, and rescue agencies to work collaboratively.
Shah stressed that public safety is the government’s top priority, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. He ordered additional precautions, including deploying dewatering pumps and staff in low-lying areas, installing warning signs at electrical hazard points, maintaining 24/7 control rooms, and providing timely updates to the public via media.
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the rains and cooperate with authorities to mitigate risks.
