PTI Sindh Vows to Fight for Imran Khan’s Freedom and Justice

In an emergency press conference held at Insaf House in Karachi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh formally announced a province-wide constitutional, democratic, and public movement for the release of PTI patron-in-chief and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The movement also aims to secure the release of other PTI leaders, restore the rule of law, and ensure true freedom for the people of Pakistan.

In attendance were the PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar, General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, Jamal Siddiqui, Mansoor Ahmed Sheikh, Saim Khan, Serena Khan, Aisha Rashid, Fiza Zeeshan, Rana Azam, Jansher Junejo, and other provincial and divisional officeholders.

Sheikh outlined the initial activities of the movement, which include public outreach campaigns, door-to-door dissemination of Imran Khan’s message, distribution of handbills, wall chalking, corner meetings, protest rallies, and hunger strikes. Under the slogan “Release Imran Khan,” the campaign will feature rallies, sit-ins, indoor and outdoor public gatherings, and grand rallies across Sindh. Additionally, all-party conferences, seminars, and hunger strike camps will be organized at provincial and divisional levels.

Emphasizing the role of PTI’s various wings, Sheikh stated that the lawyers’ wing will highlight the constitutional struggle in bar associations, the youth wing and Insaf Students Federation (ISF) will mobilize students in educational institutions, the labor wing will engage the working class, the farmers’ wing will activate rural communities, and the women’s wing will galvanize women at the grassroots level to amplify the call for Imran Khan’s release.

In regard to the media strategy, Sheikh revealed that efforts are underway to make the movement a top trend on social media platforms. He stressed that the country’s system cannot function without Imran Khan’s release, asserting that the PTI leader is imprisoned for championing the nation’s cause. “The nation must now play its role with full commitment,” he urged.

Criticizing the current political landscape, Sheikh alleged that the people’s mandate was stolen and defeated politicians were imposed on the country, leading to skyrocketing inflation and widespread deprivation. He claimed that the public is no longer willing to tolerate oppression and injustice.

He further accused the government of undermining the Constitution and the rule of law, citing the 26th Constitutional Amendment as an attempt to weaken the judiciary and amendments to the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) as a way to curb freedom of expression. Sheikh said that parties such as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), which were rejected by voters in the general elections, were reinstated through conspiracies, while Imran Khan and PTI leadership face false charges and imprisonment.

“We are patriotic Pakistanis, and our movement is a fight for the constitutional and democratic rights of the nation,” he declared. He expressed confidence that the “dark night of oppression” will not last long and that Imran Khan’s release and the restoration of constitutional supremacy will pave the way for Pakistan’s progress.

Reaffirming PTI’s resolve, Sheikh stated, “We are not ones to panic. Our struggle will continue. Imran Khan has been in jail for 700 days, fighting for the rights of the nation. The system cannot function without his release.”
