A US missile strike targeted a naval headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the northern province of Gilan on Friday, marking another escalation in the ongoing military confrontation between Washington and Tehran. Iranian officials said the attack damaged military equipment at the facility but reported no immediate casualties.

According to Iranian authorities, the strike hit the IRGC naval complex in Zibakenar, near the Caspian Sea. Ali Bagheri, Gilan’s deputy governor for political and security affairs, said preliminary assessments indicated that part of the military equipment stationed at the base had been damaged, while investigations into the extent of the attack were continuing.

The strike comes as the United States continues a series of military operations against Iranian targets following heightened tensions over maritime security and attacks on commercial shipping in the region. President Donald Trump has vowed to intensify military pressure on Iran, warning of further action if attacks linked to Tehran and its allies continue.

The latest attack underscores the widening geographical scope of the conflict, with military operations extending beyond Iran’s southern coastline.
