The United States has deployed additional Patriot air-defence batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar to help protect key energy infrastructure amid heightened tensions in the Gulf, according to Axios.

The deployments followed recent attacks and threats involving energy facilities in the region. US officials said the additional systems are intended to strengthen protection for critical infrastructure and American forces stationed in the area.
The Patriot system is designed to intercept incoming ballistic missiles and aircraft. The additional batteries are expected to bolster existing US and allied air-defence capabilities in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The move comes as Washington continues to coordinate with Gulf partners over regional security. Saudi Arabia and Qatar host important energy infrastructure and have strategic ties with the United States.
According to the report, the US deployment is part of broader efforts to protect Gulf energy facilities and deter further attacks. The Pentagon has not publicly disclosed the exact number or locations of all the additional systems.
The developments underscore growing security concerns surrounding the region’s energy infrastructure and the potential impact of further escalation on global oil and gas supplies.
