US President Donald Trump is reportedly dissatisfied with Iran’s latest proposal to end the ongoing conflict, casting doubt over prospects for a near-term peace agreement. According to US officials, the proposal fails to meet Washington’s key demands, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear programme.

Iran’s plan reportedly focuses on ending hostilities first and resolving disputes over shipping routes, including the strategic Strait of Hormuz, before addressing nuclear issues at a later stage. However, the US administration has firmly rejected this sequencing, insisting that Tehran’s nuclear activities must be part of any initial agreement.
The disagreement has stalled diplomatic momentum, despite ongoing mediation efforts and backchannel talks involving regional players. The conflict, which has been ongoing for weeks, has disrupted global energy supplies, driven up oil prices, and contributed to economic uncertainty worldwide.
While Iran has pushed for easing blockades and sanctions as part of a ceasefire framework, Washington continues to maintain pressure, including naval restrictions on Iranian shipping.
With both sides holding firm on core issues, particularly nuclear policy, hopes for a quick resolution appear to be fading, raising concerns about prolonged instability in the region.
