The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has voiced serious concerns over polling delays, staff shortages, and alleged electoral irregularities during the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, calling on the AJK Election Commission to take immediate corrective action.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, PPP AJK Election Cell In-charge Sardar Abdul Shakoor alleged that polling staff failed to reach dozens of polling stations in several constituencies on time, forcing voters to wait for hours and disrupting the voting process. He urged election authorities and the district administration to deploy staff immediately to ensure polling could proceed without further delays.

The party also questioned the Election Commission’s decision to postpone polling in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I, where voting was suspended due to heavy rainfall and landslides. While the Commission cited blocked roads and inaccessible polling stations, the PPP argued that the postponement should have been limited only to the affected locations rather than the entire constituency.

PPP leaders further alleged that polling agents were prevented from entering certain polling stations and claimed there were instances of unlawful ballot stamping and administrative interference in the electoral process. The party said it had submitted written complaints to the Election Commission and demanded immediate investigations into the reported incidents.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan warned that the party would not accept any attempt to undermine the democratic process. At the same time, spokesperson Shazia Marri called for transparent elections and urged the Election Commission to address all complaints promptly. Election authorities have not yet publicly responded to the specific allegations, while polling in the remaining constituencies continued as scheduled.
