Pakistan Navy Launches Ghazi Submarine at Chinese Base

The Pakistan Navy has successfully launched its Ghazi submarine at the Shuangliu naval base in Wuhan, China, marking a major milestone in bilateral defence cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing. The launch ceremony was attended by senior military and Chinese officials, signaling strengthened strategic ties between the two countries.

The newly launched Ghazi is the fourth Hangor-class submarine built under Pakistan’s agreement with China. All four submarines—with advanced weaponry and sensor systems—are now entering the sea-trial phase in Chinese waters.

Under the 8-submarine deal, four will be manufactured in China, and the remaining four will be assembled at the Karachi Shipyard through technology transfer. Equipped for long-range missions, these submarines are expected to significantly enhance Pakistan’s underwater defence capabilities and contribute to regional security.
